This is my first blog so I figured I should say a bit about myself. I am in the graphic design program at Parkland college and this blog is for my GDS 120 class I am currently taking taking. I graduated back in 2008 from Mahomet Seymour High School which is where I also met my wife Ariel. Straight from there, I went into the Marines. I spent five years traveling the world and meeting people which was a blast but this past summer I decided to get out and try college. While I was in the Marines I bought a 24 inch vinyl cutter and I started doing signs and car decals for my friends. After awhile I got a couple leads and I was doing vinyl lettering signs and logos for store fronts. This is what got me interested in the Graphic design program. So far I have learned everything by just messing around with it, so I figure if I learn the easier and more proper ways of the trade I will enjoy it more.
While I was in I was lucky enough to have a sweet job that gave me the chance to go to advanced military schools and do a variety of things normal people don't get to do. In some of these fields they have a "Jack" . A "jack" tells your military skills that you have acquired over the years and your capabilities. It is comprised of multiple symbols that all stand for something. I guess you could kind of think of it as a logo. The first photo below is a banner I was working on for one of my friends and the second is an outline of a Jack that tells my story.
